The regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held on 24 May 2024 in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), the CIS Executive Committee reports.
The agenda of the forthcoming summit will be discussed by the plenipotentiaries of the CIS member states on 27 February in Minsk (Belarus).
They will discuss the fulfilment of the roadmap for the implementation of the initiatives expressed by the heads of delegations at the meetings of the Council of Heads of State, the Council of Heads of Government, the Council of Foreign Ministers and the CIS Economic Council in the field of security cooperation.
In 2005, Ashgabat officially decided to participate in the CIS structure as an associate member, citing Turkmenistan's status of permanent neutrality. In 1999, Turkmenistan withdrew from the visa-free regime agreement with the CIS countries.
