President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 18, visited the newly completed Olympic Village in Tashkent, marking the culmination of one of the country’s most ambitious sports infrastructure projects.

Construction began with a foundation stone ceremony on November 9, 2022. At the time, President Mirziyoyev highlighted that the Olympic Village would symbolize the creative potential of the Uzbek people, the global achievements of national athletes, and serve as a modern, energy-efficient complex built on advanced innovation.
In under three years, the project has been completed on more than 100 hectares at a cost of nearly $290mn. Implemented by CAMC Engineering, the complex meets international standards and consists of five major sports facilities.

One of the key sites is Uzbekistan’s first international-standard velodrome. Designed with complex engineering solutions and unique architecture, its track is built from durable layered wood, ensuring year-round quality through constant temperature control. The arena seats 2,200 spectators and includes protective barriers in line with the latest International Olympic Committee (IOC) requirements.
The velodrome can also host table tennis and fencing competitions. During his visit, President Mirziyoyev called for a national program to develop cycling and for the popularization of table tennis in schools and communities.

At the heart of the village stands a stadium with a 12,000-seat capacity, suitable for 48 athletics disciplines. The venue can host world championships, para-athletics competitions, and ceremonial events. A four-story building attached to the stadium houses sports federations and national team specialists.
The president instructed officials to strengthen athletics nationwide by reconstructing regional stadiums, attracting foreign coaches, and enhancing training for athletes.

The water sports complex includes Olympic-standard swimming and diving pools, a training pool, and a gym. Recently inspected by the World Aquatics Federation, the venue has been confirmed ready to host world-class events in swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, and water polo, accommodating over 2,000 spectators.
Two additional arenas, each with three floors and 2,000 seats, were built for team sports and martial arts. The first will host volleyball, basketball, and handball, while the second is dedicated to judo, boxing, and taekwondo.

"You are raising our flag high in international competitions and showing the development of our country. Each of your achievements is a source of pride for our people and encouragement for our youth," Addressing athletes at the site, President Mirziyoyev said.

The Olympic Village also features 15 outdoor fields for football, volleyball, tennis, field hockey, and athletics. A 400-bed Paralympic dormitory and a sports medicine research center are nearing completion.
All facilities are designed to be energy-efficient, with solar panels to be installed across parking areas.
