A two-day nationwide charity cleanup (hashar) will take place across Uzbekistan on August 22–23, following a decree adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers.

During the event, large-scale improvement work will be carried out in neighborhoods, settlements, multi-apartment buildings, courtyards, alleys, pilgrimage sites, cemeteries, streets, sidewalks, and playgrounds. Activities will include cleaning, whitewashing and pruning trees, as well as improving communal areas.
Special attention will be given to assisting socially vulnerable groups, including low-income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities, through the improvement of housing conditions.
Collected waste will be removed to designated areas by local authorities and relevant organizations. At the same time, voluntary activities on highways, busy streets, water bodies, coastal zones, construction sites, rooftops, hazardous industrial facilities, and other dangerous locations are strictly prohibited to ensure safety.
The Cabinet resolution also reiterates that participation in the cleanup must be voluntary. In line with Uzbekistan’s policy on eliminating forced labor, citizens cannot be compelled to join public works such as construction, repair, or agricultural activities.
All landscaping efforts within organizations will be carried out in compliance with labor protection and safety regulations. Participants will be provided with the necessary tools and technical equipment to complete the work.
