Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Akylbek Zhaparov, conducted a high-profile meeting on February 9 with representatives of prominent Turkish businesses during his official visit to Ankara, Türkiye, Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Highlighting the existing strong economic ties between Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye, Zhaparov emphasized the significant presence of around 300 Turkish-owned companies operating across various sectors within Kyrgyzstan. He underscored the contribution of these enterprises to the local economy, providing employment opportunities for thousands of Kyrgyzstanis.
Zhaparov expressed optimism regarding the potential for further fruitful collaborations between the two nations, urging Turkish entrepreneurs to actively invest in Kyrgyzstan. He lauded the successful completion of approximately 70 projects by Turkish contractors in Kyrgyzstan, which have significantly supported the country's developmental initiatives.
Pointing out Kyrgyzstan's impressive economic growth averaging close to 7% over the past three years, Zhaparov stressed the pivotal role of entrepreneurs in achieving such milestones. Last year, the country's gross domestic product reached KGS 1.228 trillion ($13.7bn), reflecting the robustness of its economy.
Expressing a keen interest in leveraging Turkish investments, advanced technologies, and management practices, Zhaparov emphasized the Kyrgyz government's commitment to fostering an open and conducive environment for business and investment.
“We are taking decisive measures aimed at attracting investors, strengthening confidence in our country, and striving to create an open business and investment climate. This is one of the most important priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic,” Akylbek Zhaparov voiced.
Rifat Hisarzhikly oglu, the President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), conveyed gratitude for the favorable conditions extended to foreign investors in Kyrgyzstan. Hisarzhikly oglu acknowledged the significant presence of top Turkish companies across various sectors and industries, underscoring the potential for further collaboration and mutual benefit.
The meeting, attended by heads of leading Turkish companies in defense, aviation, agriculture, energy, healthcare, education, e-commerce, mining, construction, and processing sectors, signifies the growing bilateral economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye.
