President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan personally arranged for four injured citizens to be sent to Turkey for further treatment, Mediashtab reports. The patients were transported on the evening of February 3rd on the president’s TU-154 plane.
The Injured Citizens
The group included two individuals who were injured at the TPP in Bishkek, and two military personnel who were injured when a Mi-8 military helicopter crashed near Bishkek. The Mi-8 military helicopter crash occurred on the morning of January 17, killing one person and injuring 10 others.
Support and Care
The patients were accompanied by family members and two doctors. The Kyrgyzstan government has allocated funds to transport the patients, their relatives, and medical personnel to Turkey. This move is part of a broader effort by President Japarov to provide assistance to the victims.
The Incident at the Thermal Power Plant
On the night of February 2, an explosion occurred at a thermal power plant in Bishkek. The accident resulted in five injuries. Two of the injured were sent to outpatient treatment, while the other two were admitted to intensive care with burn injuries.
The Healthcare System in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan has a single mandatory health insurance system with a defined package of publicly covered services called the State-Guaranteed Benefits Programme (SGBP). Just under 70% of the country’s population of 6.6mn are covered by the health insurance system and many services require co-payments.
