In a press conference on February 3, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Gholamhossein Yadegari, along with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Bagheri, emphasized the need to maximize the existing potential to elevate Iran’s relations with Kyrgyzstan in several different fields.
Focus on Trade and Economic Cooperation
Yadegari highlighted that special attention will be given to trade and economic cooperation, with mutual support in implementing projects across various sectors such as transport, healthcare, education, logistics, and tourism. Iran mainly exports clothing, nuts, paints, and flooring to Kyrgyzstan and imports meat, grain, and steel scraps. The two countries have also signed agreements on cooperation in these spheres.
Overcoming Sanctions
Despite being under severe sanctions for forty-five years, Iran has managed to overcome these challenges. The country is now ready and open for cooperation in various directions.
Sharing Expertise in IT and Medicine
Iran has made significant strides in the fields of IT and medicine. The country is keen to share its experiences in these areas with Kyrgyzstan.
Educational Opportunities for Kyrgyz Students
In a move to foster educational exchange, Iran has allocated places for students from Kyrgyzstan at various universities in the country. This initiative provides an opportunity for Kyrgyz students to gain international exposure and benefit from Iran’s advanced educational system.
Easing Travel Restrictions
In a bid to boost tourism, Yadegari announced that tourists from Kyrgyzstan can visit Iran and stay there without a visa for 15 days. This move is expected to strengthen cultural ties and promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
