Uzbekistan’s international airports have achieved a record number of passengers in 2023, reaching 10mn people. This announcement was made by the press service of Uzbekistan Airports, celebrating a substantial increase from the 7.9mn passengers recorded at the close of the previous year in 2022.
The individual marking this milestone is Gulshad Nazhimatdinova, who unwittingly clinched the title of the 10 millionth passenger. Mrs. Nazhimatdinova, arriving from Nukus to Tashkent on Humo Air's HJ24 flight, discovered her newfound status during the registration process back in Nukus. Orynbai Bekbergenov, the director of the Nukus air harbor, was the first to extend his congratulations to her.
Upon her arrival at the Tashkent airport's terminal, Mrs. Nazhimatdinova was warmly welcomed by representatives from the management of Uzbekistan Airports. In a festive atmosphere, she was presented with a range of gifts, including a certificate entitling her to 10 passes through the luxurious airport lounges.
The press service of Uzbekistan Airports attributed this remarkable accomplishment to a concerted effort aimed at attracting foreign air carriers to Uzbekistan's airports. Additionally, the emergence of new domestic airlines played a pivotal role in achieving this unprecedented milestone.
"Ten million passengers is a record-breaking figure for airports in Uzbekistan. This achievement is a testament to the systematic efforts invested in enticing foreign airlines to operate at our airports, coupled with the growth of new domestic carriers," emphasized the press service in their statement.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the Tashkent International Airport saw a rise in customer satisfaction with 1600+ positive Google reviews. And recently, Uzbekistan Airways achieved a milestone on December 28 by welcoming its 5 millionth passenger for the year, marking a historic annual record in the airline's entire operational history.
