Uzbekistan Airways achieved a remarkable milestone on December 28 by welcoming its 5 millionth passenger for the year, marking a historic annual record in the airline's entire operational history, company's press service reported.
The significant moment occurred on flight HY604 on the Moscow-Tashkent route, as reported by the company's press service. The airline's fifth-million passenger, Dilshoda Turgunova, was greeted with congratulations on board from the aircraft commander on behalf of the airline.
Upon arriving at the airport in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Turgunova received a warm welcome from representatives of Uzbekistan Airways, including the company's management. In recognition of this milestone, the passenger was presented with memorable gifts and received a certificate for a business class flight to any of the 75 regular destinations served by Uzbekistan Airways.
Preliminary calculations for the year 2023 indicate that Uzbekistan Airways operated over 32 thousand flights, a notable increase of 16% compared to the 28,127 flights in 2022. Last year, the airline carried 4.2 mn passengers. Additionally, in 2023, the airline transported more than 50 thousand tons of cargo, with over 30 thousand tons on passenger aircraft alone, marking a 7% increase.
Earlier Daryo reported during the "ICAN - 2023" aviation event, Uzbekistan and Canada's aviation administrations signed a notable agreement, providing airlines from both countries with first and second-level "freedom of air," as per the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
