President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 5, participated in a special event focused on preparations for the upcoming Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

The event which took place in the city of Awaza, Turkmenistan was attended by Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Head of the Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Adilbek Kasimaliyev, and Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov. Members of official delegations and representatives of the public were also present.
Participants reviewed the main aspects of preparation for the regional summit to be held in Tashkent. President Mirziyoyev provided an update on activities carried out under Uzbekistan’s chairmanship. These included the adoption of a Chairmanship Concept and Joint Action Plan earlier this year.

A series of meetings have taken place, involving Security Council secretaries, heads of special services, and ministers of industry, energy, water management, and ecology. Youth and media forums have also been held. Additional events are scheduled for later this year, including an interparliamentary forum, ministerial meetings on defense, trade and transport, and cultural and humanitarian programs.
Preparations are underway for the development of joint documents to outline future areas of regional cooperation. Uzbekistan intends to propose initiatives aimed at enhancing dialogue, economic ties, cross-border trade, water and energy cooperation, transport connectivity, and climate-related action.

The participation of Azerbaijan was noted during the event, with ongoing collaboration reported in trade, transport, and renewable energy projects.
President Mirziyoyev stated that the summit would serve to align regional approaches and support development across Central Asia.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Turkmenistan on August 4 for a working visit at the invitation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedow. He is set to take part in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries on August 5, held in the Awaza national tourist zone. The event will bring together UN Secretary-General António Guterres, foreign leaders, and representatives of international and regional organizations.
