On the sidelines of the VI Kazakhstan Global Investment Roundtable, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov engaged in pivotal discussions with key representatives from Pfizer, Lasselsberger Group, and Al Rajhi International for Investment (RAII), ushering in a new era of strategic partnerships for the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In a meeting with Pfizer regional president Patrick van der Loo, the Prime Minister highlighted the significance of executing all of the company's initiatives and investment projects within Kazakhstan. A key focus of the discussion was the active collaboration underway to localize the production of the Prevenar 20 vaccine. An enduring agreement on this groundbreaking project was officially signed during KGIR-2023 in Astana.
Emphasizing the positive impact of the Prevenar 13 vaccine (previous generation) on reducing childhood pneumonia by 50%, Alikhan Smailov expressed confidence that the ongoing project would further contribute to the successful immunization of the population. Additionally, he welcomed Pfizer's plans to establish a new regional office in Kazakhstan, covering the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia.
"Kazakhstan is interested in attracting investment and advanced technologies. I am confident that the localization of Pfizer drug production will give impetus to the development of the pharmaceutical industry in our state," Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov affirmed.
Another significant meeting took place with Joseph Lasselsberger, the head of the Austrian company Lasselsberger Group. Discussions revolved around the construction of factories for the production of ceramic tiles, dry mixes, and glue in Kazakhstan. Alikhan Smailov acknowledged the dynamic growth in the country's construction sector, directly correlating with increased demand for building materials.
"Kazakhstan is committed to long-term cooperation with strategic investors such as Lasselsberger. The government is ready to provide necessary assistance in the implementation of new investment projects," the Prime Minister stated.
In a separate meeting with Ahmed Ali Al-Dakhil, General Director of Al Rajhi International for Investment and co-chairman of the Kazakh-Saudi Business Council, current issues of cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed. Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov expressed Kazakhstan's interest in modernizing the agro-industrial complex and introducing innovative agricultural marketing programs.
"In this context, signing a memorandum of cooperation with your company to implement joint projects is an important step in strengthening our partnership. The agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan has great potential for further development. For its part, the state provides active support to agricultural entities," Alikhan Smailov noted.
Concluding the discussions, agreements were reached in all meetings to continue close interaction for the purpose of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.
