In a landmark event at the VI Kazakhstan Round Table on Global Investment (KGIR), several foreign companies, including Pfizer, Çalık Holding, and Alarko Holding, have signed lucrative contracts for projects in Kazakhstan, amounting to an impressive $1.6bn. The ceremony, graced by the presence of Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, also recognized outstanding foreign investors in various sectors.
The KGIR Awards, presented in 10 categories spanning healthcare, education, energy, and agriculture, acknowledged notable contributions from companies such as Knauf Group for long-term partnership, Wabtec Corporation for investment activity, Eni S.p.A. for sustainable development, Honeywell for innovative production, and Coca Cola Içecek Kazakhstan for social responsibility.
Industry-specific awards were also bestowed upon Aitas KZ for their contribution to the agro-industrial complex, Ordamed for healthcare development, Nobel AFF for pharmaceutical industry contributions, Alarko Holding for infrastructure development, and Alageum Electric for advancing human capital.
On the sidelines of KGIR-2023, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov witnessed the signing of 26 memorandums and commercial documents, totaling $1.6bn. These agreements spanned key sectors such as the agro-industrial complex, mining and metals industry, healthcare, light industry, mechanical engineering, education, and the production of construction mixtures and chemical products.
Among the notable projects, Pfizer committed to establishing the production of the innovative pneumococcal vaccine Prevenar 20 within Kazakhstan's borders. Çalık Holding will spearhead the construction of a legume processing plant in the Kostanay region, while Alarko Holding has entered into an agreement for the construction of greenhouses with the Shymkent hokimyat (mayoral office).
Lasselsberger Group is set to build a complex for the production of construction adhesives and dry mixes, and Roche plans to localize original biotech drugs. Işıklar Packaging will contribute to the country's industrial landscape by constructing a plant for the production of craft paper packaging. Additionally, Alstom has committed to opening a car repair depot and a head service center for servicing electric locomotives within the Republic of Kazakhstan.
KGIR (Kazakhstan Global Investment Roundtable) serves as an annual convergence point for leaders of major industrial enterprises, financial sector representatives, politicians, and experts from across the globe. This year's event witnessed participation from key countries, including Great Britain, Vietnam, Germany, Canada, Qatar, China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the USA, Turkey, France, the Czech Republic, and several others, underlining the international significance of Kazakhstan as an attractive investment destination.
