The second Uzbek-Turkish educational forum commenced its proceedings in the historic city of Samarkand on November 14, marking a significant step in fostering collaboration and partnership in the field of higher education between Uzbekistan and Turkey. The event was inaugurated by Odil Abdurakhmonov, the Head of the Department of Social Development of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Republican Council of Higher Education, alongside Erol Ozvar, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey.
The forum has attracted a distinguished assembly of educational leaders, including the leadership of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey, rectors, and vice-rectors from more than 40 esteemed universities in Turkey, as well as rectors from over 50 higher educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
Erol Ozvar, leading a delegation from Turkey, arrived in Samarkand on November 13 to participate in the forum, showcasing the commitment of both nations to strengthen educational ties. The Turkish delegation comprised prominent figures such as Olgan Bekar, the Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Necdet Budak, the Rector of Aegean University, Ismail Koyuncu, the Rector of Istanbul Technical University, and representatives from more than 40 Turkish universities.
The delegation received a warm welcome at Samarkand airport, where they were greeted by First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Komiljon Karimov, and other high-ranking officials. Following the formalities, Erol Ozvar and the Turkish delegation took a tour of the historic city, exploring its rich cultural and architectural heritage.
The guests visited some of Samarkand's most iconic landmarks, including Registan Square, Amir Temur Mausoleum, Al-Motrudi Mausoleum, and the Mirzo Ulugbek Observatory. These visits not only provided an opportunity for cultural exchange but also served as a testament to the deep historical ties between the two nations.
The forum aims to facilitate discussions on academic collaboration, joint research initiatives, and student exchange programs between Uzbekistan and Turkey. With a focus on enhancing educational partnerships, the event sets the stage for a more interconnected and cooperative future in the realm of higher education for both countries.
