The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Ibrahim Abdurahmanov, received a delegation led by Takashi Hatori, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Uzbekistan, and Bito Yoshibumi, the head of the representative office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Uzbekistan.

For over 20 years, the Japanese government has financed this project, allowing 390 representatives from ministries and agencies contributing significantly to Uzbekistan's development to study at prestigious Japanese universities. After completing their studies and earning master's and doctoral degrees, these individuals have returned to Uzbekistan and are now making effective contributions across various sectors of the national economy.

The project aims to provide training in key areas such as economic infrastructure development, state financial management, business management, law, medicine, education, agriculture, and water resource development. These sectors require highly qualified personnel to ensure the comprehensive development of the country, stated the Minister.

During the discussions, the parties also explored cooperation in personnel training, particularly the opportunity for Uzbek citizens to pursue master's and doctoral studies at Japanese universities under a joint project. Minister Ibrahim Abdurahmanov expressed sincere gratitude to Ambassador Takashi Hatori and Bito Yoshibumi, acknowledging their contributions to the development of education in Uzbekistan.

Following the discussions, cooperation agreements were signed between the parties. The agreements include an exchange note between the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan, as well as a grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, both worth $2.2mn for scholarships and personnel training projects.

Under this project, 18 individuals will have the opportunity to pursue master's degrees, and one person will pursue a doctorate next year. The implementation of the project will enable Uzbekistan's future leaders to acquire the necessary professional knowledge for the country's development and contribute to its progress.

Both parties expressed their belief that this agreement will deepen mutual cooperation and strengthen the friendly relations between Japan and Uzbekistan.
