Oybek Shakhavdinov, the Head of the Department of Cooperation with European Countries and European Union Institutions, had a meeting with Yelena Pascaleva, an associate professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands to discuss the establishment of collaboration between Leiden University and educational institutions and research centers in Uzbekistan, "Dunyo" reports.
The Dutch scholar expressed great interest in the history of Uzbekistan, particularly the architecture of the Timurids. Furthermore, Pascaleva mentioned her admiration for Uzbekistan's renowned culture and her regular travels throughout the country.
The report also mentions that Yelena Pascaleva announced the opening of the Department of Iranian and Central Asian Studies at Leiden University. This development was driven by the increasing interest in Central Asia in recent years and the region's growing significance in the international arena.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to implement exchange programs between Uzbek and Dutch students through the Erasmus educational program.
