In a step towards enhancing the educational opportunities for students in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation hosted a presentation of educational materials on teaching the German language. These materials, purchased at a cost of UZS 1.3bn ($106,964), come in a circulation of 6,000 copies, spanning 4 titles. The initiative is aimed at providing valuable resources for students enrolled in special educational courses on teaching German within the country's medical colleges and technical schools.
The event, which took place at the Ministry of Higher Education, saw the participation of high-ranking ministry officials, representatives from the branch of the Goethe Institute in Uzbekistan, dedicated teachers, and aspiring students from various colleges and technical schools.
The opening remarks were delivered by Utkirzhon Alijonov, the head of the Department of Vocational Education and Development of the Education System at the Ministry. He highlighted the importance of imparting foreign language skills to students within the vocational education system. The aim is to equip the workforce with language proficiency that is crucial for competitiveness in the international job market. In pursuit of this goal, special language courses in German, English, Korean, Russian, and Japanese have been organized in colleges, technical schools, and vocational schools across Uzbekistan.
Since April of this year, 29 medical colleges and technical schools within the vocational education system have been conducting one-year special advanced training courses in teaching the German language. Currently, there are 773 students enrolled in these specialized educational courses.
The head of the Language Department of the Goethe Institute branch in Uzbekistan, Dildora Muhammadaminova, provided valuable insights into the educational literature presented during the event.
As per experts from the Institute for the Development of Vocational Education, a substantial allocation from the budget was used to acquire educational literature and dictionaries in 4 titles, totaling 6,000 copies, with a total value of UZS 1.3bn (106,964). These materials were purchased in Germany and have now been distributed to medical colleges and technical schools throughout Uzbekistan.
The newly acquired literature will serve as a valuable resource, fostering an increased interest in the German language among students. It will also enable the use of modern teaching technologies, assist students in comprehending topics in a simple and fluent manner, and encourage them to independently develop additional knowledge and skills.
