Chairman Tanzila Narbaeva of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis hosted a meeting with Kim Chang Keon, the first deputy chairman of the Korean-Uzbek Business Association.
In their discussions, the focus was on introducing novel investment initiatives in industrial sectors, establishing facilities for handling solid household waste using landfill sites, launching joint transport and logistics ventures, and backing women’s education. The discourse revolved around bolstering investment collaboration and drawing prominent Korean enterprises to Uzbekistan.
Kim Chang Keon highlighted Uzbekistan's appeal to investors due to the vast scope for small and medium-sized business development and the export of the country’s agricultural produce to Japan and China.
During the productive conversation, both parties reached an agreement to maintain cooperation in areas of shared interest and the execution of investment schemes.
Official statistics indicate that South Korean investments in Uzbekistan’s economy have surpassed $7bn. There are 461 establishments with South Korean involvement in Uzbekistan, consisting of 386 joint ventures and 75 companies wholly owned by South Korean entities.
