Turkish firm, AKSA Enerji, has invested $250mn for the construction of a gas piston power plant project that will be located in the Kashkadarya region. The 400 MW power plant will be operating based on a public-private partnership. The official signing of this agreement occurred on November 9 in a conference attended by Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and the Chairman of the Board of AKSA Enerji, Cemil Kazanci, as reported by the Ministry's press service.
AKSA Enerji will construct and invest its power plant operations for 25 years in the Nishan district of the Kashkadarya region, marking a crucial expansion in Uzbekistan's energy infrastructure development. AKSA Enerji is a subsidiary of Kazanci Holding, an organization that is not only operating in the energy sector but also in the agriculture and tourism sectors.
AKSA Enerji has a profound testimony of developing power plants across multiple countries, including Turkey, Ghana, Madagascar, Mali, Congo, and now, Uzbekistan, contributing to sustainable energy solutions on a global scale. Building the power plant project will be commencing in December 2023, and by the end of 2024, it is forecasted to fully operate.
Alongside the power plant project agreement, the visit by the Turkish company also witnessed the formalization of the electricity acquisition agreement between National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan and AKSA Enerji. Under this agreement, the Uzbek government has pledged to procure electricity from the Turkish investor for 25 years, thereby strengthening the partnership and affirming the long-term commitment between the two nations.
