The ADM Jizzakh car factory, situated within the Jizzakh Free Economic Zone, is currently transforming to become a fully-fledged automotive cluster. The project aims to establish a complete production cycle for renowned car brands, including Kia, Chery, and soon Haval. Developing a technological city within the Jizzakh Free Economic Zone involves constructing and launching several facilities.
The construction of the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) plant, which covers the entire production cycle from body welding and painting to assembly and final testing, is nearing completion. The facility is set to commence operations in March 2024, with a total investment exceeding $310 mn. The initial production capacity is projected at 100,000 cars per year, and by 2030, ADM Jizzakh aims to increase production to 300,000 cars annually.
The complex spans 1 mn square meters and includes the CKD plant, container sites, component storage areas, and a press shop. As production capacities and the localization of key components expand, the level of localized content in assembled cars is expected to reach 30%, increasing to 40-41% as production capacity grows. The car assembly production chain encompasses all major processes and stages, from sheet steel to the final assembled car.
Daniyar Davletyarov, CEO of ADM Jizzakh, described the project as a large multi-brand automotive cluster named ADM Town, which can adapt to producing various types of cars. It is set to become the premier facility of its kind in Uzbekistan and potentially the leading plant in Central Asia. The CKD plant's construction is nearing completion, with deep cleaning and equipment testing currently underway.
Component warehouses are being constructed on a 100-hectare land plot, and an additional 4 kilometres of railway tracks have been laid. Two container sites capable of accommodating 4,000 40-foot containers have been built to ensure uninterrupted production for up to 90 days in case of supply disruptions.
Among the ambitious projects within the ADM Town technological city is constructing a new car assembly plant to produce vehicles powered by alternative energy sources, such as electric cars and hybrid models. Preparatory work for this facility has already commenced, and construction is scheduled to begin in 2024.The new plant will have an initial capacity of up to 50,000 cars per year, potentially expanding to 100,000 cars in the future.
Collaborating with partners, ADM Jizzakh aims not only to master the production of cars using alternative energy sources but also to develop an ecosystem around the vehicles based on cloud technologies and solutions (Smart Drive Solutions). The project has generated employment opportunities for over 1,200 young workers and specialists from the Jizzakh, Syrdarya, and Samarkand regions. As projects come to fruition, job opportunities are expected to increase by 3.5. ADM Jizzakh employees also have unique opportunities to enhance their skills and receive training at research centres abroad.
Since March 2021, the ADM Jizzakh plant has produced over 33,000 cars, including Kia and Chery models, valued at more than UZS 7.3 tn ($601 mn). The production of Haval SUVs, crossovers, and pickups is set to commence soon.
