Cargo turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia has seen significant growth, increasing by 38% year-on-year during the first nine months of this year, Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation reports.
On October 31, the customs committee head of Uzbekistan, Akmalhoja Mavlonov, met with his Russian counterpart, Ruslan Davydov, to discuss mutual trade development. The two sides reached an agreement on simplifying customs procedures and mutual recognition of authorized economic operator institutions.
A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a document for the exchange of customs information between Uzbekistan and Russia. This information exchange is expected to facilitate the notification of changes in the national registers of authorized economic operators in both countries.
Ruslan Davydov, head of Russian customs, highlighted the importance of expediting projects for streamlining the movement of goods under international agreements with Uzbekistan, specifically mentioning a pilot project for a simplified customs corridor in his recent column for RBC. This underlines Russia's commitment to enhancing trade cooperation with Uzbekistan through efficient customs procedures.
