South Korea's foreign ministry says its head, Park Jin, will make his first official visit to Turkmenistan next week.
In Ashgabat, he will meet with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and his counterpart Rashid Meredov to discuss ways to further cooperation in various sectors, including energy, transport infrastructure and healthcare.
Jin will attend the 16th Republic of Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum to be held in the Turkmen capital on 1 November.
"Foreign Minister Park’s visit to Turkmenistan is expected to serve as a good opportunity to further strengthen Korea-Central Asia relations and to explore ways for mutually beneficial cooperation."
The regional forum will also be attended by about 200 experts, including in industrial, academic, private and public sectors, from Korea and the Central Asian countries.
The press release said ways of cooperation in transport and logistics, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, climate change, information and communication technology, education, science and tourism will be explored.
On the sidelines, Park will hold bilateral meetings.
