The IV Para Asian Games, taking place in Hangzhou in 2022, commenced on Monday, October 23. The Uzbekistan delegation achieved remarkable success in swimming, securing gold, silver, and bronze medals.
In the S13 category of para-swimming for men, all three participating athletes in the 100-meter (328ft) butterfly event reached the podium. Muzaffar Tursunkhojaev clinched a gold medal, Islam Aslanov earned a silver, and Kiril Pankov received a bronze.
Additionally, the Uzbek team excelled in para-athletics. In the T64 category of para-athletics, Temur Giyazov achieved a silver medal, displaying a remarkable result of 2m (6.5ft).
Urganch Egamnazarov, competing in the T11 category of the para-athletic long jump for men, secured the third position with an impressive distance of 6.32m (20.7ft), contributing a bronze medal to Uzbekistan's medal count.
In para-athletics, Yorkin Odilov, participating in the F57 class javelin throwing program for men, won a silver medal by recording a distance of 47.72m (156.5ft).
This year marks a historic occasion as Uzbekistan participates in the 2022 Summer Para Asian Games in Hangzhou with its largest-ever team of 108 para-athletes across 11 sports.
