Among the notable achievements during the XIX Asian Summer Games, taking place in Hangzhou 2022, Bakhodir Jalolov, a member of the Uzbekistan national boxing team, secured the gold medal on Thursday, October 5.
In a thrilling final match within the +92 kg weight category, Bakhodir faced off against his longstanding rival, Kunkabayev Kamshybek from Kazakhstan, emerging victorious once again. This triumph not only secured his gold medal but also earned him a spot in the upcoming XXXIII Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024, following his success in the semi-finals.
Kamshybek Kunkabayev is a Kazakhstani professional boxer. As an amateur, he won a silver medal at the 2017 and 2019 World Championships, and a bronze at the 2020 Summer Olympics, and he is a golden medalist in Tokyo 2020.
Recapping his earlier performances, Bakhodir demonstrated his prowess by defeating Muhammad Abroridinov from Tajikistan in prior rounds by a significant margin. In the semi-finals, he achieved a decisive victory by knocking out China's Bayikewuzi Danabieke in the very first round.
Both Muhammad Abroridinov and Bayikewuzi Danabieke are amateurs in this sport, making their debuts in 2019 and 2018 respectively. While there is not much information regarding both of them, are younger than Bakhodir Jalolov, who is also a professional boxer.
