In a proactive move to ensure a steady supply of coal for the upcoming autumn-winter heating season, Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, conducted an official visit to Kara-Keche, with a particular focus on the fuel and energy sector. The visit took place as part of his broader tour of the Issyk-Kul and Naryn regions.
Japarov's first stop was at the coal loading and unloading point managed by the Kyrgyzkomur state enterprise in Balykchy. During his visit, he received a briefing on the facility's readiness for the approaching heating season and was pleased to learn that it stands at 100% preparedness. This reassurance comes as Kyrgyzstan gears up to meet the energy demands of its citizens during the colder months.
Following this, the Chairman made his way to the Tsentralny site of the lignite deposit situated in the Jumgal district. This site is a crucial source of coal for Kyrgyzkomur, playing a pivotal role in the country's energy production. During discussions with the enterprise's director, several challenges were brought to light, including the high workload, seasonal queues at the open pit, and the low profitability of the state enterprise.
In response, Akylbek Japarov issued a directive to thoroughly analyze the situation and devise solutions to the identified problems. He emphasized the need to prioritize safety in coal mining operations and to ensure that extraction adheres strictly to technical and environmental requirements. Reflecting on the previous year's difficulties, he highlighted the importance of effective planning and uniform distribution of the coal mining load to maintain proportionate fuel prices throughout the nation.
"Prepare an analysis of the situation; in the pursuit of large volumes, you should not forget about the safety of coal mining. Excavation of solid fuel should be strictly in accordance with technical and environmental requirements. Last year there was a difficult situation, but this year coal shipment is going according to plan. Each business needs planning, the load on coal mines should be even, and fuel prices in all regions of the country should be proportionate," Japarov voiced
Kyrgyzstan's demand for coal for the upcoming heating season is estimated at a substantial 2.756 mn tons, with the capital's Heating and Power Plant alone requiring 1.2 mn tons of solid fuel. The success of Japarov's visit and the subsequent actions taken by the government will play a pivotal role in ensuring a reliable energy supply for Kyrgyzstan's citizens during the winter months.
