The international conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan", to be held in Ashgabat on 25-27 October 2023, will discuss the issue of attracting foreign investment for the development of hydrocarbon fields in the national sector of the Caspian Sea.
The organisers of the event - state energy companies - consider the offshore blocks 21 and 23, whose reserves have been confirmed, to be promising.
The Turkmen sector is divided into 32 licence blocks, with reserves estimated at 12.1bn tonnes of oil and 6.1tn cubic metres of gas (excluding contract areas).
Companies such as ENI, Dragon Oil, Petronas and others are currently active in the sector.
Experts told Daryo that more than 80% of the resources in the Turkmen part of the Caspian Sea are located at depths of more than 3,000 metres and in poorly explored areas of oil and gas accumulation, and are capital intensive.
