Ashgabat plans to open a UN-supported centre on climate technologies in the Central Asian region, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
To this end, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the five Central Asian states are planning to conclude a Memorandum of understanding.
Turkmenistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov said this at a government meeting.
TV also reports that the Turkmen government is taking comprehensive measures to implement the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Paris Agreement and other environmental documents.
Experts told Daryo that the ecology of the Aral Sea, prevention of desertification, protection of biodiversity and the environment, and sustainable water management are on the regional agenda.
