Turkmenistan's State Customs Service reports it plans to modernise the Garabogaz customs checkpoint on the border with Kazakhstan.
It plans to install modern X-ray equipment to check vehicles.
Turkmenistan borders Kazakhstan on the Caspian Sea, and the length of the land border between the two countries is 458,263km.
The two countries have recently ratified an intergovernmental agreement on a common state border regime.
The proposed regime includes the procedure of border maintenance, passage of persons, vehicles, cargo and joint settlement of border incidents.
