Nury Golliyev, who previously headed his country's consulate in Astrakhan, Russia, has been appointed Turkmenistan's ambassador to Kyrgyzstan.
The decree was signed by the president, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
In August 2021, Kyrgyzstan began buying electricity from Turkmenistan in transit through Uzbekistan and is now preparing a new contract to import 1.6bn kilowatt-hours in 2023.
Imports from Turkmenistan to Kyrgyzstan are also represented by supplies of petrol, aviation paraffin, and textiles. Turkmenistan buys electrical goods, agricultural products and foodstuffs from Kyrgyzstan.
At this stage, the possibility of concluding a memorandum on using the route to ship goods from Kyrgyzstan through the port of Turkmenbashi to Astrakhan is being discussed.
