During a recent meeting with voters from the Andijan region, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a presidential candidate from Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party (O'zLiDeP), announced the country's intention to produce 1mn passenger vehicles by 2030, media reports.
To achieve this goal, an additional $1bn investment would be made to develop the automotive industry further. Over the next two years, the production of cars would climb from 300,000 units to 500,000 units, and a large machine-building cluster involving 13 enterprises is being established in Asaka.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also highlighted the importance of implementing the mega-project, the Construction of the international railway 'Uzbekistan - Kyrgyzstan - China.'
Earlier, the presidential candidate met with Khorezm voters and announced that the capacity of the automobile plant in Pitnak would be increased from the current 90,000 units to 150,000 by next year. In addition, he mentioned plans to establish a machine-building cluster consisting of 30 enterprises for producing new cars and electric cars and localizing 100 different types of imported components. Shavkat Mirziyoyev also shared his vision for the future, stating that by 2030, these clusters will produce products worth $2bn.
