In Bukhara, illegal excavations were carried out on the territory of a historical monument, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports.
In the Romitan region, due to illegal demolitions and earthworks, 5 archaeological sites were seriously damaged for a total of $25 million.
The following areas were damaged:
- "Tepa 9" monument - damage of about $23.5mn;
- "Kalai Mullabektepa" monument - damage in the amount of some $1.7mn;
- Amirtepa monument - damage of about $96,000;
- "Khoja Hakkitepa" monument - damage of around $73,000;
- "Tepa-5" monument - damage in the amount of roughly $17,600.
A criminal case has been initiated and an investigation is underway.
