Singapore's President Halimah Yacob says that the country's development is not due to a historical coincidence but rather the result of various factors, including the hard work of previous generations and the visionary leadership of Lee Kuan Yew, "Dunyo" reports.
She emphasized that Singapore had to invest significant funds to create job opportunities and develop a prosperous economy in a city-state with limited natural resources. They focused on attracting foreign investments, promoting an open economy, and implementing good governance, meritocracy, and ethical principles.
Yacob also highlighted the importance of Singapore's multilingual policy, which preserved cultural uniqueness and offered a common language for communication. The president emphasized the significance of long-term planning, political stability, and establishing good relationships with other nations.
She noted that Singapore's ability to adapt to climate change, enhance pandemic preparedness, and maintain positive relations with multiple partners was vital in addressing global challenges. Since its establishment in 1992, the Singapore Cooperation Program (SCP) has facilitated knowledge exchange and learning experiences with other developing countries.
Yacob expressed readiness to further enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan, acknowledging President Mirziyoyev's invitation and visiting historical sites, and meeting with cultural representatives.
