A wanted person suspected of being a member of an international terrorist organization was brought to Uzbekistan from abroad. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The 36-year-old Sh.N., who was influenced by the ideas of religious extremists and terrorist organizations on social networks, had decided to move to Syria in 2016. There, he was in constant contact with the members of radicalized groups and underwent combat training.
Sh.N. was apprehended abroad and is currently being questioned by law enforcement agents.
Extradition cases
In mid-March 2023, a citizen of Uzbekistan, who introduced himself as an embassy employee and tricked people in Latvia, was extradited. Also, at the end of March, the staff of the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Uzbekistan extradited an internationally wanted person from Sweden for the first time.
At the beginning of April, a person wanted internationally for a crime committed in Uzbekistan 13 years ago was arrested in Moscow. In the middle of the month, two Uzbeks were arrested in Kyrgyzstan on suspicion of being members of a terrorist organization.
