CRRC Ziyang (China) is making a major delivery of diesel freight locomotives to Turkmenistan - in addition to 13 CKD9A-1 double-section locomotives already delivered, two more are on the way.
"This is the largest order of diesel locomotives that China has received from Turkmenistan in the past decade".
The other day, two units of diesel locomotives departed from Alataw Pass in Xinjiang into Central Asia, via Kazakhstan and sent to Turkmenistan. Each of them consists of two wagons in a fixed coupling.
Equipped with powerful diesel engines, the locomotives can reach speeds of up to 100km/h. The new locomotives have 1,600 more kilowatts of power than their analogues used in the past шт Turkmenistan.
CRRC has become the largest supplier of railway machinery in Turkmenistan since it entered the Central Asian market in 2004, providing a total of 281 (units) high-power diesel passenger, freight and shunting locomotives.
They account for about 95 per cent of the local rail freight and passenger traffic.
Turkmenistan has implemented several important projects to expand its 5,188-km railway network. There are plans to electrify 2,000 km of the main railway sections.
