Beijing supports more Chinese companies in investing and doing business in Turkmenistan, said President Xi Jinping during a meeting on May 18 with his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Xi'an, north-western China's Shaanxi province.
The bilateral relationship enjoys enormous potential and broad prospects, the Xinhua quoted him as saying.
China is willing to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan in areas such as the economy, trade, natural gas, communications, high technology and aerospace.
For his part, Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan highly values its strategic partnership with China and is willing to align its initiative to revive the Great Silk Road with the Belt and Road Initiative.
He called for for deepening cooperation in key fields such as energy and innovation.
The state agency Turkmen Habarlary reports that following the talks, documents were signed concerning cooperation between customs structures, the media outlets and contacts between political parties in the two countries.
China is the main buyer of Turkmen gas and in turn supplies diesel locomotives, telecommunications equipment and participates in the development of hydrocarbon deposits.
