A citizen of Uzbekistan, who worked at a plant in Yangsan (South Gyeongsang province), died from injuries sustained when he fell into a tank of hot water with a temperature of 67 degrees while on duty.
The deceased man was in his 20s, and was operating the temperature control panel of a hot water tank used to make metal pipes when he slipped and fell into a tank 1.5m. deep, 1.5m. wide, and 7m. long, Yangsan police said in a statement on May 10.
His death came nine days after his severely burned body was treated.
Police are looking into whether security protocols were followed.
“Due to the fact that no protective fences were installed around the hot water tank, an inspection is being carried out to ensure that the company representative and others followed the safety rules properly,” the department said.
