The 28th Steering Committee meeting of the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline commissioned in December 2009 was held in Samarkand.
Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Bahodirjon Sidikov attended the meeting, his office said.
"It should be noted that the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline has been successfully operating for more than ten years, thereby developing closer cooperation between the four countries through whose territory it passes.
Turkmenistan has been selling its natural gas to China since 2009 when three pipeline branches passed through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
From 2009 until December 2022, over 350bn cubic meters of natural gas worth $60bn were supplied from Turkmenistan to 27 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions of China, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Turkmenistan is seeking to increase the capacity of relevant infrastructure in the Chinese direction to 65bn cubic meters of gas from the current 30-40bn. For this purpose, a fourth branch, through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, is planned in addition to the three branches of the pipeline.
