Vepa Hajiyev has been appointed as the Acting Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, according to a report by Altyn Asyr TV channel. He served as a deputy in this office before his appointment.
The change in staff results from the leave of absence taken by the current Foreign Minister, Rashid Meredov, who has been in office since 2001.
"The minister asked for another leave of absence, and the request was granted". President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed the relevant decree.
A Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry delegation recently held talks in the United States and Germany.
