On April 4, it was revealed that the authorities of St. Petersburg will attract migrants to military service under the contract. This was reported by "Rotonda" with reference to the order signed by Vice-Governor Valery Pikalyov.
According to the publication, the authorities of St. Petersburg are to hold a meeting with the leaders of the diaspora by April 15 to involve them in popularizing military service under the contract. This order was received by the vice governors of the Northern capital Kirill Polyakov, Boris Piotrovsky, Vladimir Knyaginin and Nikolai Linchenko.
According to the document, officials need to “organize work with private employment agencies” in order to interest migrants in contracts with the Russian army.
In addition, a representative of the committee on interethnic relations will be included in the working group to help the Western Military District with the promotion and selection of foreigners for military service.
