The second Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF-2023) will be held in the capital on April 27-28 this year, the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade reports.
It was reported that more than two thousand participants from 56 countries - major investors and high-ranking guests - took part in the first forum.
Last time forum participants signed contracts worth $7.8bn and formalized preliminary agreements on projects worth $3.5bn. Among the most notable statements of the forum:
- Hyatt Regional Vice President Punit Tandon announced the opening of a new brand hotel in Bukhara;
- The head of "Makro," Roman Saifulin, gave a forecast for the segment of modern retail in Uzbekistan, comparing it with the markets of Kazakhstan and Turkey 20 years ago;
- The head of Uzbekistan Airports, Rano Juraeva, promised that the subsidiary airline Silk Avia would launch passenger flights in the fall;
- Deputy Chairman of the Board of AMMC Abdulla Azizov announced plans to hold a local IPO before the end of 2024 (later, it was decided to go public in 2022, then in 2023);
- Saudi HMG signed a memorandum on the modernization of healthcare management in Uzbekistan;
- Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov proposed to create a shared space for investments in Central Asia;
- The head of the Ministry of Information and Communications (now the Ministry of Digital Development), Sherzod Shermatov, invited foreign IT companies to Uzbekistan and spoke about the conditions for them.
The number of participants in the next event is expected to increase even more. During the forum, it is planned to hold a plenary meeting, more than 30 expert debates, panel discussions, roundtable discussions, and B2B negotiations aimed at fully revealing the investment potential of Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
