Tajikistan will be fully connected to the single energy ring of Central Asia in early 2023. This was reported by Sputnik with reference to the Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Management Jamshed Shoimzoda.
It was reported that the connection of some systems in some lines in the south and north of Tajikistan, and the export of electricity to neighbouring countries, including Uzbekistan, have already kicked off. Shoimzoda said that many factors would affect the implementation of the plan, including the security and stability of the unified system.
At the beginning of 2022, an accident occurred in the unified energy centre of Central Asia, leaving a large part of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan without electricity.
"Taking this into account, together with partners, all possibilities are being used to ensure the security of the energy ring," he said.
Kyrgyzstan left Central Asia's unified energy system due to a power outage observed on January 25, 2022.
