In 9 months this year, 6,449 accidents occurred in Uzbekistan, and 1,494 cases ended in death, Mashrab Razzokov, the head of the Center for the Study of Traffic Safety Problems, has reported.
49.3% of accidents occurred due to improperly organized road infrastructure. One thousand three hundred fifteen traffic accidents (20.4%) were attributed to human factors such as speeding, lack of experience, and other driving violations.
According to some sources, pedestrian crossings were not yet set up in 884 spots across the republic.
