The requirement for a B2 level certificate for new foreign language teachers in Uzbekistan will be introduced from the 2023/2024 academic year. The Ministry of Public Education reported this.

Due to the stark shortage of foreign language teachers, the Uzbek government has extended the rule for foreign language teachers B2 level national or international certificate requirement for a year.

"Dear teachers, students of the higher educational institution!

We ask you to take measures to improve your skills to fully meet the requirements set for the quality of education and the knowledge of pedagogues in schools. In order to improve the quality of school education, the qualifications and skills of pedagogues should be at a high level.

We remind you that from the 2024/2025 school year, any foreign language teacher in the school is required to have a B2 certificate. In turn, teachers with S1 level international certificate have the opportunity to increase their monthly salary by 50% at the same time," the report said.
