Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Norboyeva talked about the role of gender equality in the UN policy and the regulation of documents in Uzbekistan at the panel session on "Gender equality, youth, investment in the future" at the economic forum in Samarkand.
“Almost 70 years ago the UN has defined gender issues as one of its main tasks since the early days of its activity. Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the organization, in one of his addresses, emphasized the seriousness of the issue, saying: "Achieving gender equality, expanding the rights and opportunities of women is the biggest human rights problem in the world today.
It is necessary to use mass media and social networks to prevent various stereotypes related to ensuring gender equality, and to widely promote its norms among the population.
We also have to pay attention to the issues of training women in modern professions, especially in IT, programming, online commerce, and creating job opportunities.
Authorities, civil society institutions, active public - all need to join forces to develop a strategy for expanding the economic opportunities of our women and implement it. We will use the suggestions and recommendations of all our partners, activists of our society to eliminate systemic problems in the field, as well as to promote new projects and initiatives in this regard, - the chairman of the Senate said.
