Pakistan's exports to Afghanistan have seen an increase of 84.25% in the first eight months of the fiscal year 2024-25, according to The Nation, citing the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Exports to Afghanistan were valued at $592.840mn during July-February 2024-25, compared to $321.754mn during the same period last year.

On a year-on-year basis, exports to Afghanistan showed a slight increase of 2.90%, rising from $34.960mn in February 2024 to $35.977mn in February 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, exports in February 2025 decreased by 31.54% compared to January 2025, which had reached $52.555mn.
In contrast, Pakistan’s overall exports to other countries increased by 7.18%, reaching $21.8bn from $20.4bn in the same period.
Imports from Afghanistan also saw a substantial rise, growing by 232.46% during July-February 2024-25, amounting to $18.2mn compared to $5.477mn last year. On a year-on-year basis, imports from Afghanistan surged by an astonishing 870.40%, from $310,000 in February 2024 to $3mn in February 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, imports from Afghanistan decreased by 42.24% in February 2025, compared to $5.2mn in January 2025.
Pakistan's overall imports increased by 11.37%, from $34.4bn to $38.3bn in the same period.
In March, Pakistan and Afghanistan reopened the Torkham border, a key route for trade and travel, following a nearly month-long closure caused by clashes between their security forces.
