Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit China from January 23 to 25 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the presidential press service reported.
The official program of the visit includes high-level negotiations and a series of bilateral meetings to address crucial matters on the diplomatic agenda. Both leaders will engage in discussions on strengthening ties and fostering mutual cooperation between the two nations.
In addition to the formal discussions, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to visit one of the regions of China. During this visit, he will also meet with the heads of leading companies and representatives from the banking and financial sectors, reinforcing economic collaboration between the two countries.
This visit adds to President Mirziyoyev's track record of diplomatic engagements with China, having visited the country five times in the past five years. In October 2023, he made a significant working visit for the third International Belt and Road Forum. His visit in May of the same year for a state visit included participation in the inaugural "China - Central Asia" Summit, underscoring the growing importance of bilateral relations.
In 2022, the president attended China for a working and public visit, notably participating in the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics. His diplomatic efforts in 2019 included attending the Belt and Road Summit, where he engaged with leaders from China, Tajikistan, the IMF, and the UN General Secretary. The year 2018 witnessed his participation in the SCO Summit, where he met with leaders from China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the First Deputy of the UN General Secretary.
President Mirziyoyev's frequent engagements in China highlight the robust diplomatic ties between the two nations, fostering cooperation on various fronts, from economic initiatives like the Belt and Road Forum to regional summits and international events of significance.
Uzbekistan's dedication to global economic integration is demonstrated through its extensive trade relations with 193 countries worldwide. China, as Uzbekistan's largest trading partner, plays a pivotal role in the country's export and import activities. The commitment to strengthening economic ties is evident in the consistent growth in both exports and imports between the two nations.
