Pakistani authorities deported 50 Afghan children, including 17 girls, after they illegally entered the country through the Khyber border in search of work. The children, most of whom were under 10 and lacked valid travel documents, had cut through border barriers before being arrested near the Torkham crossing.

Local police official Adnan Khan confirmed the arrests, stating that the group was taken into custody near the main border gate. Officials at Torkham later facilitated their return to Afghanistan.
Authorities report that more than 700 similar incidents occur daily, reflecting a surge in attempts by Afghan nationals to enter Pakistan illegally.
This comes as the Pakistani government’s March 31 deadline for undocumented migrants, including those with Afghan identification cards, approaches.
The Ministry of Interior has warned that from April 1, mass deportations will begin as part of a broader plan authorized by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier this year. The initiative aims to expel approximately 3mn Afghans residing in Pakistan, highlighting growing tensions between the two nations over border security and migration policies.
