Uzbekistan welcomed 7.3mn foreign tourists between January and November 2024, marking an increase of 1.15mn visitors (19%) compared to the same period last year, according to the Statistics Agency. In November alone, 791,500 people crossed the country's borders.
Top Source Countries
Kyrgyzstan led the list of visitors with 2.12mn arrivals, including 253,000 in November. Tajikistan closely followed with 244,600 visitors in November. Kazakhstan ranked third, contributing 1.38mn tourists this year, 118,000 of whom visited in November.
Russia and Turkmenistan completed the top five, with 741,200 and 171,200 visitors, respectively. In November, Russia accounted for 54,500 tourists, and Turkmenistan contributed about 26,000.
Visitors from Non-CIS Countries
Turkey was the leading non-CIS source country with 108,000 visitors, including 12,300 in November. China followed with 66,600 tourists (8,900 in November), India with 63,400 (7,500 in November), and South Korea with 39,000 (2,500 in November). Afghanistan also made the top 10, with 38,000 visitors.
Business Travel
The number of foreigners visiting Uzbekistan for business purposes rose to 165,000, almost tripling from last year. Turkmenistan accounted for the majority of business travelers (89,200), followed by Tajikistan (36,000) and Afghanistan (32,200). Turkey and China each contributed 1,100 commercial visitors.
Medical Tourism
A total of 98,800 visitors arrived in Uzbekistan for medical purposes, reflecting a 77% increase compared to the previous year. Tajikistan was the primary source, with 75,400 medical tourists. Kazakhstan contributed 11,300 visitors, Kyrgyzstan 9,200, Russia 1,746, and Turkmenistan 794.
