Kazakhstan's national railway company, KTZ, has signed a memorandum of partnership with Hungary's L.A.C. Holding and China's Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation to establish a new freight terminal in Budapest. This facility, expected to handle 230,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually, will play a crucial role in enhancing container transport on the China-Europe-China route.
The terminal aims to improve the efficiency of transcontinental logistics. According to KTZ, it will help reduce delivery times, lower transportation costs, and minimize transshipment delays.
The Budapest terminal is an important component of Kazakhstan’s international logistics strategy, which focuses on expanding its network along major transport corridors. This move aligns with KTZ’s goal of acquiring and developing logistics infrastructure abroad to facilitate Asia-Europe trade.
KTZ has already announced plans to develop another freight terminal along the Caspian coast in Azerbaijan.
