President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan recently met with Pia Kauma, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and representative of Finland, to discuss the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The meeting stressed the importance of enhancing ties across all three dimensions of the OSCE’s mandate: military-political, economic-environmental, and human. President Rahmon emphasized Tajikistan’s view of the OSCE as a key platform for constructive dialogue and regional stability.
During the discussion, Tajikistan reiterated its support for the priorities of Finland’s 2025 OSCE Chairmanship, with particular focus on conflict prevention, confidence-building measures, and the fight against transnational crime.
Security issues dominated the agenda, with both sides highlighting the need for coordinated international action in addressing global threats. President Rahmon stressed the significance of the Dushanbe Process on Combating Terrorism and its Financing as a regional initiative aimed at curbing extremism and securing peace.
Economic-environmental cooperation was also explored, with an emphasis on aligning future projects with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Both parties considered opportunities to improve infrastructure, strengthen key economic sectors, and promote regional development.
Human rights and gender equality were also part of the dialogue. The Tajik side reaffirmed its commitment to work with the OSCE in implementing the National Human Rights Strategy through 2038, including efforts to protect freedoms and increase women’s participation in social and economic life.
The talks extended to current regional and international developments, including efforts to resolve ongoing crises and foster trust throughout the OSCE region.
