President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan met with President Vladimir Putin of Russia to discuss a range of bilateral issues, including trade, strategic partnerships, and cultural exchanges, Akorda reported. The meeting took place against the backdrop of the inaugural "Future Games" international tournament in Kazan, Russia, marking a unique blend of sports and IT intelligence.
President Tokayev expressed gratitude to President Putin for the invitation to attend the "Future Games" and commended the innovative format of the tournament. He proposed hosting the next edition of the games in Kazakhstan to further enhance collaboration between the two nations in the realm of sports and technology.
Highlighting the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, President Tokayev lauded President Putin's leadership in shaping the global agenda and achieving remarkable economic success despite challenging circumstances. He emphasized the concrete results stemming from the agreements reached during President Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan in November of the previous year.
“This is our first meeting in the new year, Vladimir Vladimirovich. We are all waiting for the presidential elections, which will take place on March 17 in Russia. Of course, there is no doubt about the final result, because Russia, under your authoritative leadership, is achieving impressive successes. In fact, you are shaping the global agenda with your statements and actions. The Russian economy, despite very difficult conditions, has achieved great success. Naturally, this has a positive effect on the progress of our cooperation and on the implementation of the agreements that we reached during your state visit to Kazakhstan in November last year. Both sides, governments, in my opinion, are successfully working to implement the agreements. There are already concrete results,” President Tokayev voiced.
In response, President Putin reaffirmed Russia's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Kazakhstan and stressed the importance of sports in fostering international cooperation. He underscored the successful development of bilateral relations across vital sectors, including energy, investment, and regional cooperation.
“I have emphasized many times, and I want to say again, sport should be outside of any politics, on the contrary, it should bring people together. We have many participants from more than a hundred countries - 104 countries from different continents, young people who are interested in both digital sports and real, traditional sports. As for bilateral relations, they are developing very successfully in almost all vital areas. I remember the visit of our delegation to Kazakhstan last year. And then everything went well. We have outlined directions for further development. Colleagues report to me how work is currently going on in the areas of energy, investment, and regions. Everything here is of considerable interest. For countries as a whole, for individual regions, and for entire industries,” President Putin remarked.
The leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, indicating the depth of their ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
