Locust invasion threatens agricultural fields in Afghanistan
Agricultural communities in the Herat and Takhar regions of Afghanistan are facing a new threat as swarms of locusts invade their fields, decimating crops and leaving farmers concerned about their livelihoods, reports from local sources stated.
In Herat province, the agricultural fields of Keshk Rabatsangi district have fallen victim to the relentless onslaught of locusts. Residents of the district express deep concern as more than 20 villages find themselves under siege by these voracious insects. With their crops at risk of destruction, farmers are anxious about the potential consequences for their families and communities.
The Taliban movement in Herat province has acknowledged the severity of the situation and has initiated efforts to combat the locust invasion.
Meanwhile, in the Takhar region, farmers and residents are grappling with a similar plight as millions of locusts from neighboring countries invade their fields. The mass invasion of Moroccan locusts has instilled fear among the local population, who are witnessing the destruction of their agricultural crops on a large scale. With their livelihoods at stake, farmers are appealing to the Taliban government to intervene and prevent further devastation before it's too late.
